You peeked up from your book and spotted a certain classmate walking into the room, your eyes narrowing slightly.
"Arthur." You greeted curtly. He nodded in response.
"(y/n)."
"You're so irresponsible," you mumbled. "Always late to class."
Arthur frowned, glancing at your assignment book. "Well, you haven't even written any of your homework down yet!"
Huffing, you started to transcribe the pages of your textbook that were written on the chalkboard. The teacher sighed, used to the constant nagging you two exchanged, and began class. Like always, you and Arthur kept your hands raised the entire class period and kept track of the number of an

"W-What do you mean?" You asked, tears welling up in your eyes. Arthur opened his mouth to respond, but Alfred beat him to it.
"Your mommy's the bad guy." He said simply. You shook your head no, the tears finally falling.
"She's not a bad guy. She's the-the goodest good guy ever." Your voice faltered, though. Could she really be the bad guy? Your mom had always taken care of you and loved you, why would she be bad?
"We should probably be going, poppet. It's getting dark." Arthur said after a few minutes of silence. You nodded silently and got into the car.

My stomach flips like a coin at her smile, beckoning
me to pick: Heads or tails? I knock
the change aside and abandon potential wealth
because I am too much of a coward to choose.
The girl dealing the cards
smiles once more and hands me a
forbidden flask. I take a sip, sinking
a bit further into my reverie.
She asks me to decide once more, and
I choke on the taboo liquid, the truth
dawning on me. I want her help to

The realization tastes of arsenic

I knock the bitter glass
aside and

Nerdfighteria ran into the World Meeting, her long dirty blonde hair streaming behind her. The cascade of wavy strands rested against her back as she stopped. She was three and a quarter minutes late.
"I'm so sorry, I got lost!" She apologized frantically. America laughed in a way that most people besides her found annoying.
"Kid, chill out. You'll be fine." He comforted. She smiled gratefully and sat down next to him. It was her first World Meeting and she was incredibly nervous. She was representing her country and it would take a lot of effort for these pe

You glanced at the barista at Starbucks. She had thick, black-rimmed glasses and bright red lipstick. Stifling a giggle, you leaned into America's ear.
"Hey, Al." You whispered. He whipped his head around and almost hit you with his glasses. "Why did the hipster burn her tongue?" America glanced at the barista and guffawed, not bothering to disguise it.
"I don't know, dude. Why?" His goofy grin made you even more confident in your pun.
"She drank coffee before it was cool."
"What are you bloody idiots doing at my house?" You smiled innocently, knowing England would be more polite to a lady.
"Well, the barista at Starbucks though

You wandered around the playground, checking every place she could hide.
"Mommy could be playing a game," You murmured, "We play hide and seek sometimes." As you bent down and looked in the fort, two almost identical faces popped out. You yelped and jumped back a few inches.
"Sorry, did I scare you? Heroes aren't supposed to scare innocent pedeslians." The other boy chuckled softly.
"It's pedestrians, Alfie." He shrugged and turned to you.
"This is Mattie and I'm Alfred. We're twins." He chirped. "Who're you?"
"I'm _______. Have you seen a lady that looks like me, but older?" They peeked outside the play castle, but the only other perso

"Buenas Tardes, Germany." Argentina said formally, although there was softness in her words that most people didn't receive. "How was your day?" He sighed into the receiver.
"I did not do much. Mein bruder wanted to spend quality time and I didn't get to go into the office." Argentina could hear someone yell "HEY!" She assumed it was Prussia, and she wasn't incorrect.
"You remind me too much of Brazil." She scolded. "He doesn't bother with the family anymore, too busy with work. Don't push your brother away."
"I am not pushing East away! I don't want to waste time arranging childish activities when we see each other plenty at the

A man sighed and continued trudging around the forests of Ooo. Sure, there were some talking animals there, but it seemed devoid of life to him.
"Why did he do it?" The man asked himself softly, for the millionth time since the Mushroom War. He decided to stop reminiscing of that time, to keep him from remembering. But his memories hardly obliged, rushing out of the back of his head. He remembered how lighthearted he once was, and how he considered himself a hero. Back then, he thought any problem could be solved with enough determination and some outlandish scheme. He remembered the person he used to be. And, as always, the images of his c
